The Challenge

Yoga Democracy had built a loyal customer base and a strong brand identity around sustainable, ethically made yoga apparel. Their products were well-reviewed and their existing content performed reasonably on traditional search. But when customers started asking AI assistants for recommendations on yoga clothing, Yoga Democracy was nowhere to be found.

The problem was not a lack of content — it was the wrong kind of content. Their existing blog posts and product pages were optimized for Google's traditional algorithm, not for the way AI models extract and recommend brands. Competitors with weaker products were getting recommended simply because their content was structured in ways AI could easily parse and cite.

The Strategy

Rather than starting from scratch, we restructured and expanded Yoga Democracy's existing content footprint to align with how AI models discover and recommend brands. The strategy combined content optimization with community-driven credibility building.

• Content restructuring — We audited every existing page and restructured key content with clear comparative claims, FAQ sections, and structured data that AI models use to form recommendations.
• Reddit and community strategy — We identified the subreddits and forums where yoga apparel gets discussed and built an authentic presence. AI models heavily weight Reddit discussions when forming product recommendations, so genuine community engagement translated directly into AI citations.
• New comparison content — We created detailed comparison guides and “best of” roundup content that positioned Yoga Democracy alongside better-known competitors, giving AI models the context to include the brand in recommendation lists.

The Results

Within the engagement period, Yoga Democracy saw a 156% increase in AI-generated recommendations across ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews. The brand moved from being absent in AI responses to consistently appearing in the top three recommendations for sustainable yoga apparel queries. AI-referred traffic showed significantly higher conversion rates than traditional organic traffic.
